What is Art?

Anything can be art.  I believe that art has many different forms and has a different meaning to each viewer.  Therefore, art is subjective and does not bring out the same feelings in every viewer.  One piece of artwork might evoke strong emotion in one viewer while the next viewer is unaffected by the same piece of art.  I believe that all art must be unique and original to the particular artist.  While an artist may interpret a fellow artist’s work in a piece of their own, no two pieces of art are identical.  Works of arts is a way for an artist to express themselves as well as make a statement about their unique vision of the world or current events.  Art makes a viewer think about what message the artist was trying to convey since it is not always immediately evident.  Particular pieces of art may allow the viewer to feel as if they have been transported to the world inside the work.  Art can be seen in anything and found anywhere.  A piece of art does not need to be expensive or have any monetary value at all.  It also does not need to be located in a museum or a gallery.
